The mullein plant is
formally called Verbascum densiflorum and is less formally known as Felon Herb,
Wormwood, Great Mullein, Flannel Mullein and Common. Mullein is a tall
single-stalked plant that grows up to 7 feet. It is a biennial plant that
displays loads of leaves and is topped by a burst of 5-segmented yellow
flowers. These flowers smell like honey and produce a mellow, sweet taste.
Mullein leaves are
comprised of the following:
ˇ
Mucilage;
ˇ
Flavonoids;
ˇ
Sterols;
ˇ
Sugars;
ˇ
and iridoids;
The dried leaves from
mullein plants are used to brew refreshing teas, often, but not necessarily
mixed with other herbs, to help you to gain victory over sore throats and
unproductive coughing. The high mucilage content in mullein leaves acts to help
you to cough up the infection-causing agents that are causing you to suffer.
There are no known adverse reactions or precautions associated with the use of
mullein leave tea.
