Rubus idaeus is the name
that scientists like to call Raspberry plants. The rest of us like to just call
them Red Raspberry, Raspberry, and/or Wild Raspberry. They are so pleasing to
the palate - probably the best tasting herbal remedy of all! Especially
prized by the Mohawk, Cherokee and Iroquois Indians, raspberry leaves are
comprised of life-enhancing flavonoids, tannins and elagic acid. The leaves of raspberry plants are harvested
in the spring before the plants flower. This is when the antioxidant levels are
found to be the highest.
Make a
deliciously-healthy raspberry tea by pouring a cup of boiling water over 1 to 2
teaspoons of the leaves inside of a teapot. Close the pot and allow it to stand
for about 10 minutes. Sweeten to taste with honey and drink warm up to 3 times
daily. Raspberry tea has various medicinal applications including, but not
limited to:
ˇ
Treatment for canker sores and cold sores;
ˇ
Reversal of gingivitis;
ˇ
Treatment for anemia;
ˇ
Relaxing leg cramps;
ˇ
Relief from diarrhea;
ˇ
Stopping morning sickness;
ˇ
Use as a uterine relaxant;
ˇ
Use as a calming sleep aid;
ˇ
and much more!
Enjoy delicious and
refreshing raspberry leaf tea as often as you like. There are no known
precautions associated.
