Product Description

Scientific Name: Sodium montmorillonite

Origin: United States

This isn’t your run-of-the-mill art class clay. 100% natural Bentonite Clay is a powerful way to absorb toxins, both internally and externally. Mined almost exclusively from Wyoming and Montana, this mixture is comprised mainly of silica mixed with a slew of healthful additives such as iron, sodium, magnesium, calcium and potassium. Placed on the skin as a mask or bath, it acts like a sponge to suck up the stressors that plague your skin, while, when taken with water, it can cleanse you from the inside by absorbing toxins, heavy metals and other impurities.

With near endless benefits to boast about, Bentonite Clay can do everything from thicken your favorite cosmetics and healing itchy skin to relaxing inflamed blemishes and treating oily hair. The best part of all is that you’ll never have to step foot near a kiln.

Health Benefits

Detoxification

Rich in nutritional minerals and enzymes, Bentonite Clay aids the immune system in eliminating harmful toxins from the system. By helping to alkalize the body’s pH level, it allows us to better absorb the nutrients in our food, especially gut-friendly probiotics. This process also regulates the build-up of certain metals in the body, such as mercury, cadmium, and lead, which can be harmful at higher levels.

Oral Health

Bentonite Clay is capable of binding to a wide variety of toxins and heavy metals. This, along with its powerful blend of minerals, can help to re-mineralize and prevent tooth decay—especially from the acids contained in many foods and beverages.

Skin Health

Due to its high level of essential elements, Bentonite Clay is a great and natural way to cleanse and purify the skin. Applied topically, it can ease irritation from insect bites, burns, and blemishes. These properties may also help to soften and detoxify the skin, as well as calm itching from chicken pox, psoriasis, and eczema. For babies, it can also be utilized as a powder to sooth infection, redness or inflammation.

Healthy Facts

A natural attractant of heavy metals, Bentonite Clay can boost many of the body’s most essential functions. Its capacity in neutralizing certain bacteria helps to alleviate digestive issues, including IBS, nausea, and constipation. It can boost the immune system by preventing the growth of harmful organisms. And by pulling excess hydrogen from cells in the body, Bentonite Clay also improves overall blood flow and oxygen absorption.

How to use

If ingesting, mix ½ - 1 teaspoons of Bentonite Clay with a glass of your favorite beverage and consume immediately. To create a facial mask, blend equal parts clay and water together. It can also be added to bathwater, along with several other application options. It is recommended that you do not consume within 2 hours of taking any medications. For faster intake, you can also make your own Bentonite Clay capsules by utilizing one of our easy-to-use capsule filling machines.

Brief History

Although its discovery origin is still debated, Bentonite Clay was named by Wilbur C. Knight in 1898, after the Cretaceous Benton Shale near Rock River, Wyoming. A natural resource found the world over, in 2011, the United States became the top producer of Bentonite Clay. The highest grades are mined in areas of South Dakota and Wyoming, while other major locations include areas of New Zealand, Germany, Greece, and China. In perhaps its most notable use, Thai farmers discovered that Bentonite Clay could dramatically reverse the degradation of their soil and help yield larger crops. It’s also used in purification processes, groundwater barriers, and drilling fluids, along with its many medicinal and beautification capabilities.

Recommended Storage

If stored correctly, our Bentonite Clay has a shelf life of up to 2 years. To maintain its freshness, it is recommended to always reseal the bag after opening it and removing as much air from the bag as possible. Store in room temperature, away from any heat source or sunlight.
